October 3, 2012. CollegeConsole.com today launched the countdown of its Top 5 college admissions videos of 2012. The company reviewed hundreds of videos to select five that elevate the art of the college admissions video to a new level.

"With admissions season in full swing, we decided now would be a good time to lighten the mood," said Newk Majista, the company's director of marketing. "Every one of our five finalists will make you laugh out loud at some point."

“Humor, originality, pacing, and quality of the production were key factors in our decision-making process,” Majista added. “But to win a spot in the Top 5 it also had to convey a sense of what the school and its students were like.”

Stunning campus views, earnest professors, and inspiring background music weren’t enough to win a spot in the Top 5. Winning selections “had to keep us engaged all the way through,” Majista said. “Our motto throughout the entire process was, ‘No talking heads!’”

Most of the winning videos are relatively unknown outside their local college communities. One finalist had been viewed fewer than 10,000 times at the time of the release of CollegeConsole.com’s rankings.

The company will announce one selection per day starting Monday, October 3 and concluding Friday, October 7. A list of honorable mentions will be released Monday, October 10. The public can follow the countdown at www.CollegeConsole.com/countdown.aspx.

CollegeConsole.com is a free, web-based service that lets students create their own college rankings based on over forty academic and extracurricular activities, from accounting to vocal music, plus institutional factors such as selectivity, housing, and campus size.
